Most of you have probably heard of the term “networking” but what about “net-walking”? 🙂
Net-walking is all about getting out into the fresh air, exercising, and connecting with the environment and local community whilst walking and talking alongside people who wish to share their interests and passions with others in the area.
Greener Tywyn and the Tywyn Beach Guardians in association with the Eden Project Communities will be holding Tywyn’s first ever Net Walk on Monday, April 16th 2018.
The walk will begin at the Victorian Slipway where we will have tea and coffee and a brief introductory chat.
From there, we will head out on a one-mile walk along Tywyn Beach, cleaning up a small patch as we go. During this part of the walk, Greener Tywyn and the Tywyn Beach Guardians will discuss how they’ve been raising awareness about reducing the amount of plastic washing up on our beaches.
Bags will be provided but please bring sturdy gloves and suitable footwear!
We will then make our way to the Proper Gander on the high street for lunch (food provided) where Greener Tywyn and the Tywyn Beach Guardians will give a short talk about how and why “a group of local residents got together to help make the environment around Tywyn cleaner and greener for everyone.” During this talk, we will also have the opportunity to hear about other community projects happening in the area.
The day will end off with a short walk around the town centre where we will explore the places, spaces and projects that are making a difference to the sense of community spirit in Tywyn, such as the community garden, school garden and a local well-being group.
Eden Project Communities will also be on hand to share plans for the #BigWalk and #BigLunch in Wales in May/June and how you can join in.
