Greener Tywyn Gwyrdd would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended our 1st birthday party on March 23rd!
Over 150 of people visited the Magic Lantern cinema throughout the day to see the stalls and demonstrations, while enjoying tea, coffee and the vast array of homemade cakes at the bar. A few people even made the journey from England to take part in the event!
Committee members Joanna and Liz showed us how to make homemade oat milk and beeswax wraps respectively, whilst our committee chair Richard was in charge of the Energy Game which helped people understand the best way to reduce their carbon footprint.
The highlight was Paul Allen’s hour-long media presentation which made wonderful use of archive film footage to tell the story of energy on Earth, rampant consumerism’s impact on climate change, and how we can start using sustainable forms of energy to lead a life that is both planet and people-kind.
The day ended with our green raffle which was made of up some very high quality prizes donated by local and national businesses, and individuals.
Thank you once again to all those who took the time out of their busy schedules to run the stalls including: Alan and Phoebe of Surfers Against Sewage, Dianna of the Cambrian Beach Guardians / Ecobricks, Dawn of Living Seas Wales (North Wales Wildlife Trust), Craig of Terracycle UK, Charity of Mach Maethlon, Jane and Michelle of the Tywyn Beach Guardians, and Emily and Molly who took care of the Fair-trade stand.
The event wouldn’t have been a success without you!
